Tokyo 2020 High School Student English Speech Contest Final

Contest held under the theme of the power of sport and peace
Tokyo 2020 teamed up with the global education organisation EF (Education First) to host the final round of the Tokyo 2020 High School Student English Speech Contest, at the Japan Sport Olympic Square in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
This contest forms part of the Tokyo 2020 Education Programme, which is aimed at spreading and promoting to younger generations the value of the Olympic Games as a festival of peace. There were speeches delivered by the 10 finalists which was followed by an award ceremony.
“I hope that the Games will be held in a peaceful world for all, and I participated in this speech so that people would be more aware of peace with my words,” high school student Marina Ikeda said.
Aside from the individual awards, there was also an award for one of the schools certified by Tokyo 2020 as “Yoi! Don!” programme participants engaging in Olympic and Paralympic education.
